Child Care Connection Golfs For Education
Child Care Connection is holding it's second annual Golf Tournament to raise money for its Malo Scholarship Fund. This year's event is being held on Monday, August 11, and is anticipated to raise over $5000 to benefit scholarship recipients in local high schools that are pursuing a career in Education. The Golf Tournament is being in held at the Country View Golf Club in Harrisville. "It was a huge success last year and we're anticipating an even bigger turnout this year", stated Tracy Martin, Committee Chair. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, buffet dinner and prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, a casino hole and best team. There's also a Hole-In-One challenge with a grand prize of a trip for 2 to Hawaii. Limited spaces are still available and registration information can be obtained from Tracy Martin at 401-434-1118.
Recipients of the Child Care Connection scholarships are chosen each year by local area high schools based on academic excellence, a desire to work in the field of education, and monetary need. Child Care Connection CEO Kevin Fusco stated, "The opportunity to help students expand their education, especially in a field that helps to shape and develop minds of young children, is a huge reward in itself."
In addition to the scholarships, a monetary donation will be made to the Black Rock Elementary School in Coventry in memory of Zachary, Nicholas and Kaleigh Malo. The Malo children passed away tragically in a house fire in December 2000. Prior to the tragedy, the children had been a bright and loving part of the Child Care Connection Early Learning Center in Scituate and are deeply missed.
