Child Care Connection Donates Scholarships To Local High School Students In Memory of Three Children
Lincoln, RI - Child Care Connection (CCC) is pleased to announce the recipients of our $2500 in scholarship funds being given to high school students pursuing careers in education. The scholarships are in memory of Zackary, Nicholas & Kaleigh Malo. The Malo children passed away tragically in a house fire in December 2000. Prior to the tragedy, the children had been a bright and loving part of the Child Care Connection Early Learning Center in Scituate and are deeply missed. CCC is able to grant these scholarship awards through funds raised in their annual Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament held each summer.
The winners of the high school scholarships are:
Jennifer Degaetano – Mount Hope High School (Warren)
Sabrina S. Solares – Shea High School (East Providence)
Barbara Prendergast – Tolgate High School (Warwick)
Erika Alexander – Smithfield High School (Smithfield)
Caitlin Coulombe – Lincoln High School (Lincoln)
Kimberly Belyea – Case High School (Swansea, MA)
Erin Sladen – East Providence High School (East Providence)
In addition to this donation, Child Care Connection's Golf Scholarship Fund donated an additional $500 to Blackrock Elementary School where the Malo children attended. The funds will be used towards the construction of their new playground.
