Friends Way Honors The Children's Workshop at Annual Gala

Newport, RI – Friends Way held it's Annual Gala on Saturday, April 28, and The Children's Workshop was recognized with a Philanthropy Award for the organization's commitment to Friends Way over the past several years. The award was presented at the Newport Hyatt Hotel during the event.

Kevin Fusco, CEO and President of The Children's Workshop, was also presented with an award for his individual commitment to Friends Way. He created a corporate partnership between Child Care Connection (now The Children's Workshop) and Friends Way, with Friends Way receiving over $20,000 a year in funding as well as volunteer support from The Children's Workshop employees. Friends Way, established almost seven years ago, is a not-for-profit organization located in Warwick, RI, which operates a bereavement program for children coping with grief and loss. The group provides support and outreach to approximately 140 families each month at no charge. In addition, Friends Way visits schools to discuss general grief and loss and also provides workshops on grief coping skills and how to recognize at-risk behavior of children who are not coping well with loss.
