Child Care Connection Joins National Celebration of Week Of The Young Child

March 15, 2006 – Child Care Connection in Pawtucket celebrates Week of the Young Child (April 2-8, 2006) to recognize the needs of young children and thank educators and others involved in building better futures for all children. Week of the Young Child is celebrated across the country by hundreds of local organizations working to improve opportunities for all young children.

"Early learning experiences are crucial to the growth and development of young children," said Sheila Dendaneau, Director of Education for the company. "Week of the Young Child provides opportunities for all of us to recognize the importance of the early years, and to work together to build better futures for all children."

As part of their Week of the Young Child celebration, the Child Care Connection center at 178 East Street in Providence is hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic on April 5. This is a program through Memorial Hospital to familiarize children with hospitals. Children bring in a teddy bear and a volunteer from the hospital will repair any torn animals, give the teddy bear an ID bracelet and add a new bow.

Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.

Across the country, young children and their families depend on quality education and care, which help children get a great start, and bring lasting benefits for our society as a whole. Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the people, programs and policies that are helping to build better futures for all children.

Child Care Connection & The Children's Workshop prides itself in providing their families with high quality care and learning for infants, toddlers, preschool, kindergarten and school age children. The company owns and operates early learning centers under the name of Child Care Connection in Rhode Island and The Children's Workshop in Massachusetts and is committed to providing excellence in education for young children. The company opened its first early learning center in 1991 and has since grown to 16 centers throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
