ABC's in Baked Play-Doh Win Prizes and Gift Card for Preschool Teacher

Pawtucket, RI (January 12, 2005)—When Play-Doh announced a contest for a teacher to be named "Creator of the Year," Heather Mullins who teaches fifteen preschoolers at the Child Care Connection on East Street in Pawtucket, RI decided to enter one of her classroom projects using Play-Doh. Mullins was named a runner up in the national contest and received a Play-Doh prize pack for the classroom and a $100 gift card.

The creative teacher used alphabet cookie cutters for the class to stamp out the letters of the alphabet. The brightly colored letters were baked for twelve minutes in a 350° oven, and the creative Play-Doh alphabet was then used for letter recognition and for tracing as an extended activity.

According to the school's director Lorraine Spiver, "Several generations of children have loved creating with Play-Doh, and there is no reason to believe anything will change. Our teachers are very creative and help the children to learn with projects that encourage them to use their imaginations. We are very proud of Heather and all our dedicated teachers."

Child Care Connection prides itself in providing their families with high quality care and learning and offers "The Creative Curriculum", a nationally recognized educational approach to teaching young children. Child Care Connection was founded in 1991 as a company dedicated to providing high quality child care services to infants, toddlers, preschool, kindergarten and school age children. The company opened its first child care center in Lincoln, RI in 1991 and has grown to 17 early learning centers throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
